Hotel Misión Santa Maria San Quintín sits calmly along an expansive beach on Mexico’s Pacific coast, offering a laid-back atmosphere distinct from crowded tourist resorts. The hotel’s casual charm emerges from its mission history and beachfront location, where guests can enjoy long walks on nearly empty shores marked by unusually low tides.
Accommodations feature functional, clean rooms that evoke a classic, slightly dated character adding to the hotel’s unique vibe. Onsite amenities include a tennis court, courtyard, and a restaurant serving authentic Mexican dishes, complemented by a cozy bar ideal for unwinding with a Michelada while listening to surf sounds. Families are catered to with a children’s play area, and ample free parking supports travelers arriving by car.
Although the location is a bit off the main highway and requires a vehicle for exploring, nearby natural parks and the San Quintín Botanical Garden offer nature-focused outings. The mood here suits travelers seeking quiet privacy and an authentic, unpretentious beach experience rather than extensive nightlife or resort-style indulgence.

“Part of me doesn't want to write this review for fear that if too many people read it, it will get crowded, but then, it wouldn't be fair. This place is a diamond in the rough. It's not particularly well advertised, and definitely is not one of your All Inclusive resorts catered to American audiences, but if you want to drive south of the border, I would suggest getting past Ensenada (where you can stop for lunch or whatever), and get here for some real quiet time. Once upon a time, I guess this was a mission, and the rooms have a dormitory kind of feel, which sort of adds to the charm. The proximity to the beach is the real plus. You can walk out the front of the hotel, and find a good mile of a largely empty beach. The low tide is so low that you could literally walk a couple of hundred yards through wet sand before you get to knee deep water. Never seen a beach like that. The restaurant gives you a taste of authentic Mexican hospitality. The bar is a bit old with not-intentional retro lighting, and limited in its offerings, but still, a great place to sit down, relax, and enjoy a Michelada or two or more. They also have tennis courts, and if you didn't bring your own, they'll provide you with equipment. Plenty of parking. There's a nice children's play area right by the restaurant which is nice for families. There's not much to do in walking distance, and you absolutely need a car. Molino Viejo is about 17km from here, where you could rent a boat and explore Bahia San Quintin, not to mention some shops and bars there. But that's not what this place is for. If you want to unwind, and need to place that's far from the crowds, this is it (it does have wifi, just fyi). I guess you could call it romantic from that point of view, but I went there with friends (my wife wouldn't want to drive that far south of the border).”
“Incredible views from the second floor close to ocean 100 meters. Huge property a bit difficult to access if you never been there’s. Good food in the restaurant plenty of parking probably could use infusion of money Old El Presidente hotel with the same decor than 45 years ago !”
“An absolutely enjoyable and relaxing experience. Older facility well maintained. Safe, isolated, pet friendly family, quiet, a classic Baja California Pacific Ocean front beach hotel - with expansive beach, abundant privacy, clean and comfortable rooms with very good hotel restaurant that offers room service. At lobby level is a lobby bar, gym/exercise room and game room, the staff is great, and the entire vibe is relaxed and tranquil. Pet friendly with some swings and play area for small children. While the furnishings and fixtures are dated, they are also fully functional and clean and add to the charm of the property. Real glass beverage glasses in the rooms with china like coffee cups and saucers, it’s obvious the owners care about the property and the staff contribute to a great guest experience. Definitely will return. Definitely. Enjoy the quiet vistas of the Pacific, sleep to the sounds of the breaking surf, and enjoy great food from the on site restaurant. A great find. Ample free parking space.”
“We spent five nights here and enjoyed being on the coast. Beautiful scenery. A little out of the way, but they are very accommodating and friendly. The restaurant was wonderful. Being from the USA, it was a fun experience. You can get along without speaking Spanish, but it definitely helps.”
“Lovely place on a deserted stretch of Pacific Ocean beach. Found it as an alternate because the hotel where I planned to stay was closed. Great service, good food in the restaurant. Rooms were clean and beds were good. It's a hidden jem. The parking lot is guarded 24hrs. I parked motos on a trailer. They survived the night!”
